Georgia State is an at-grade station on the Blue and part-time on the Green lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system located in the eastern part of Downtown Atlanta. The station is located within the James H. Floyd State Office Building and was constructed concurrently with the building in the late 1970s. The station has exits located on Piedmont Avenue and Jesse Hill Jr. Drive (formerly Butler Street). It provides access to Georgia State University, the Georgia State Capitol, Grady Memorial Hospital, The Fulton County Health System, the Georgia Archives, James H. Floyd Twin Towers State buildings and Turner Field. It provides connecting bus service, to Lakewood Stadium, Piedmont Park, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta Hughes Spaulding and Atlanta Medical Center.
